Yesterday, the Chicago Steel traveled to Youngstown to
take on the Phantoms. Jaccob Slavin, Michael Holland, Patrick Polino, Drew
Smolzynski, and Ray Pigozzi started off the game, with Alex Sakellaropoulos in
net.
The Steel came out ready to play in the first. Youngstown
was the first to capitalize when Austin Cangelosi lit up the back of the net
only four minutes into the first. For the rest of the first, neither team was
able to capitalize ending the period 1-0.
In the second the Steel came out looking to tie up the
contest. However, Youngstown’s Kyle Connor was able to further the distance
between the Phantoms and the Steel when he netted a goal three minutes into the
second period. Cangelosi followed up one minute and 25 seconds later with his
second goal of the night, ending the second 3-0.
Down by three, the Steel came out ready to capitalize on
any chance they got. The distance between the Steel and Phantoms grew when
Cangelosi scored a power play goal, making the score 4-0, and giving him a hat
trick for the night. Youngstown was able to hold Chicago for the rest of the contest,
giving Sean Romeo his fifth shutout of the season.
While the Steel were outshot 33-24, Alex Sakellaropoulos
had 29 saves during regulation.
The Steel continue their four game road trip tomorrow,
