Party Like It's 2014!!

Around March each year, Rusty throws a huge party for all of the kids who are in his club. Rusty invites all the kids, players, and staff to Enchanted Castle to enjoy some pizza, play in the arcade, race go-karts, and challenge each other in laser tag. Last night was this year's Kid's Club Party. The night was full of fun, laughs, and memories to last a lifetime.

Once all the kids and their families got to Enchanted Castle, the players all lined up in the hallway and got ready for their introductions.

Attempting to line-up in numerical order
Once introductions were done, it was time to eat. The choice of food for the night was pizza! Who wouldn't love that?!

Following dinner the "rookies" on the team participated in a Dance-Off. Initially all of them had to go on stage, separately, and show off their best dance moves. By the crowd's cheers the players were either eliminated or moved on. From all the rookies it was then narrowed down to the top 4, then the top 2. The top 2 dancers had to then battle it out to see who would be the Dance-Off Champion. Check out some of the videos and pictures taken last night below.

It was a great night for everyone. The players even put all their tickets together and won a lion head for the locker room. If you plan on coming and have booked a suite for one of the upcoming home games, see if you can spot it.

The Chicago Steel wants to give a special to Enchanted Castle for letting Rusty host his party with them, as well as, all the kids and parents who came out to his party! We hope to see you again next year!

44 Total...Who Do You Choose??

Happy Tuesday Steel Fans! Since last Monday was president's day, we figured that we would dedicate our posts to them today. As you all know July 4th, 1776, is the day that 56 delegates gathered to sign the Declaration of Independence, which gave us independence from Britain. From there the delegates elected George Washington as the nation's first president. Since George Washington we have had a total of 44 presidents, each of them unique and different from the last.

From elementary school through high school, and possibly college, children learn about the different Presidents and how it effected our country. At some point in school, one of presidents stick out to an individual and become their favorite leader so far. We decided to ask all the boy who their favorite president is. Check out their answers!!

Who is your favorite president??

The "You Can Play" Project

Happy Wednesday Steel Fans! We hope that you are staying warm with all the snow that has been falling. From the looks of things, it seems like there will be six more weeks of winter.

Today we have a special issue and video we want to share with you. The Chicago Steel have decided to take a stand, along with many athletes around the world, and support the “You Can Play” Project. The “You Can Play” Project is designed to allow athletes, coaches, and fans to ability to stand up and help change the way the world thinks about athletes, both gay and straight. In sports, talent, work ethic, and character are all that matter when assessing a player. The “You Can Play” Project is dedicated to allowing LGBT athletes show their talents without fear. Below you will find the mission of the organization.

“You Can Play is dedicated to ensuring equality, respect and safety for all athletes, without regard to sexual orientation.

You Can Play works to guarantee that athletes are given a fair opportunity to compete, judged by other athletes and fans alike, only by what they contribute to the sport or their team’s success.

You Can Play seeks to challenge the culture of locker rooms and spectator areas by focusing only on an athlete’s skills, work ethic and competitive spirit.”

It is time for everyone to take a stand against the discrimination of LGBT athletes. At the end of the day no matter your race, ethnicity, or sexual orientation; if you can play, you can play. To learn more about the “You Can Play” Project or find out ways you can support this great organization please visit: http://youcanplayproject.org.
