Week 18 presents two games for the Chicago Steel. On Friday,
the Steel travel to Iowa to take on the Waterloo Black Hawks. Saturday, the
Steel will return home to the Edge and take on the Dubuque Fighting Saints.
Friday’s puck drop is at 7:05 p.m. Saturday’s game will begin at 7:00 p.m. Reminder
that Saturday’s home game is also Mascot Night!
The Chicago Steel (14-16-3) are coming off a win and an
overtime loss against the Team USA U-17 Juniors last weekend. Last Friday, the
Steel fell behind early but responded with three straight goals from Connor
Murphy, Brendon Kearney and Tyler Sifferlen for the 3-1 victory. Saturday, the
Steel found themselves down by two goals in the third period but answered with
two late goals from Ryan Blankemeier and Freddy Olofsson. However, Team USA
found the back of the net in overtime and the Steel fell 3-2.
The Waterloo Black Hawks (10-20-3) are coming off a weekend
split with Sioux Falls, dropping Friday’s game 7-3 but winning on Saturday 3-1.
Recent Steel additions Marcel Godbout and Nick Olczyk travel back to Waterloo
to face their former team for the first time.
The Dubuque Fighting Saints (20-9-3) lost twice to the Team
USA U-18 Juniors last weekend, with one game going into a shootout. The
Fighting Saints are currently in third place in the Eastern Conference. The
Steel lost to the Fighting Saints 5-1 in Dubuque at the end of 2014.
This Saturday is Mascot Night! Rusty and his mascot friends from
the Chicago-land area are attending Saturday’s game and will play a friendly
