Let's Recap!!

Good evening Steel Fans! This weekend the Steel only played one game against the Muskegon Lumberjacks. The Steel fell to the Lumberjacks 1-0. We were able to talk to Assistant Captain, Charlie O'Connor to see what his thoughts were on the game. "I thought we played well; we just have to capitalize on our chances," said O'Connor. "They were able to capitalize on their chances. I thought we played well. We matched their intensity, and Sak did really well in net, and kept us in the game."

Below is Larissa with our Weekend Recap:

We also got to talk to Coach Scott McConnell to get his thoughts on the game. "I am extremely proud on how our team came out and competed Sunday," said Coach McConnell. "I thought we played well for 60 minutes of the game. When you don’t put the puck in their net, it doesn’t allow you a chance to have a break down. That’s what happened in the game. We didn’t score, and one break down turns out to be the end of the game. We took some positives out of it. It was a clean, fast, physical game. We worked hard, our penalty kill did a good job, and we get another crack at them on Saturday."

This weekend the Steel are away both Friday and Saturday. On Friday, February 1st, the Cedar Rapid RoughRiders will welcome the Chicago Steel to U.S. Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids, IA. Game time is set for 7pm. On Saturday, February 2nd, the Muskegon Lumberjacks will welcome the Chicago Steel to the LC Walker Arena, in Muskegon, MI. Game time is set for 7:15pm (6:15pm Chicago time).

Insight for the Upcoming Games from Coach McConnell
"We are going to have to go into Cedar Rapids and get on the board early. It’s a tough building to play in, against a divisional rival. We are going to have to look towards our forwards to score."

"We just saw them last weekend and it was a close game. We are going to have to take our opportunities and capitalize on them. Muskegon is a tough opponent, but we seem to play well against them. It’s a big four points that our organization needs this weekend."

Insight for the Upcoming Games from Assistant Captain, Charlie O'Connor
"We are playing both games away this weekend so we have to come out strong during both games. We also have to match the intensity. If we do that I think we will be fine. This week we have to work on burying on our chances, we have to capitalize."
