Chicago Steel Week 14 Game Preview

The Chicago Steel have two games scheduled this weekend. On Saturday, the Steel head to Iowa to take on the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders with puck drop scheduled at 7:05 p.m. Sunday, the Steel have a 3:00 p.m. start in Dubuque against the Fighting Saints.

The Steel (11-11-2) fell to Muskegon in week 13. Tyler Sifferlen tallied one for the Steel in the first period, while Muskegon had two goal scorers, Ryker Killins and Liam McGing. Freddy Olofsson was able to tie the game midway through the second, but Muskegon answered with goals from Steven Merl and Tom Marchin. The Steel made a strong comeback in the third when John Ernsting found the back of the net early on, followed by a game-tying goal from John Schilling. Muskegon’s Bo Hanson broke the even score and led the Lumberjacks to victory with his game-winning goal.

The Cedar Rapids Roughriders (20-6-0) sit atop the Eastern Conference with 40 points. They are heading into Saturday’s matchup coming off back-to-back losses to the Madison Capitols last Thursday and Friday evening.  The Dubuque Fighting Saints (14-7-2) lost to Green Bay in a shootout during last Friday’s battle.

Chicago will return to the Edge Ice Arena in 2015 for back-to-back games on Friday, January 2nd and Saturday, January 3rd.
